Hay's Wood Retreat - A Great Family Getaway

Just wanted to recommend a great place to go for a long weekend or even longer.

I went with my family (including Ted our dog) plus my in-laws and sister-in-law and her family. But it would be perfect for just a couple or a large family.

We went to Hay's Wood Retreat - www.hayswoodretreat.com located about 10 mins South of Kings Lynn. They have about 35 wooden lodges. The one I stayed in had 3 double bedrooms (one bedroom had 2 singles and the other 2 doubles) 2 en-suites plus a further toilet and shower room, huge open plan kitchen/living room with full size oven, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, oven and hob. Easter Sunday I cooked a full roast in the kitchen for 9 people 😋

My in-laws and sister-in-law stayed in another 3 bedroom lodge.

The lodges were so much nicer than we expected.

There was a playground on site 🛝 gym 🏋️‍♀️ communal lounge area where you could get a coffee, plus goats 🐐 and sheep 🐏 you can feed by hand (reception sells bags of food for £1 each). My daughter loved the fire pits 🔥 where we roasted marshmallows.

For 3 nights it worked out at £600 which I didn't think was too bad for 3 bedrooms.

We had a fabulous day at Bawsey Country Park which had a lake, beach 🏖️ and cafe. It's only a 10 minute drive from Hays Wood Lodge. Then we also went to Heacham South Beach which was 30 min drive away and I'd highly recommend there too. We enjoyed some delicious fish and chips there 🐠

I just wish I took some photos of the lodges. You can see them in the background of some of the photos 🤣
