A Day Out in London
Thought I'd recommend something to do for a day out in London because it's so easy to jump on the train 🚇from St Albans.
I'd lost count of how many times I'd asked my husband (Nick) what he would like for his birthday 🥳 so I decided to book something for us to go and do, because if you're anything like us when you get into your forties you never know what you want for birthday or Christmas 🙈
Last year we did the Crystal Maze experience which was very good but quite expensive. I wanted something similar to that and with a quick Google found Spy Games in Covent Garden (opened earlier this year) which worked out at £49 per person and it was brilliant, it had about 12 different rooms where you go in and play different games of about 1 to 2 mins each and included things like avoiding touching a series of lasers while trying to get to the other side. Throwing balls at targets, 🎾stepping on the right colour squares plus lots more. You get 50 mins. It's ideal for anyone aged about 7 or over. We both thoroughly enjoyed it and said we would come back again.
Then after I'd booked Flat Iron restaurant also in Covent Garden for a steak 🥩 which was absolutely amazing. Nick said it was the best steak he's ever had which is a bold statement given how many he's had. I opted for the cheese burger (£14)🍔 which was so delicious and I can say it's the best one I've ever had too. Nick had the Scottish Bavette (£18). The homemade beef dripping chips (£4) were divine 😋and we also shared a side of mac and cheese (£5.50) and creamed spinach (£4). It was all so great and very reasonable.

Plus even better when you're given the bill they also give you a token for a free salted Caramel ice cream 🍦 you can collect on the way out.

You know when it's good when there's a queue of about 15 people outside trying to get a table 🤣
There's a few in London, one in Cambridge and others further away. I highly recommend it and I'm not normally a huge fan of chain restaurants.
